The idea for Brock Cliffhanger was born from a deeply personal place. Through his relationship with his wife Laura and her family, Mark formed a close bond with a young boy named Jack, who became like an adopted grandson. What began as letters, Junior Park Ranger materials, and imaginative encouragement grew into a meaningful character who embodied mentorship, service, and leadership. As Jack shared his excitement with his siblings and friends, the spirit of learning and leading together became the heart of the series.

Each Brock Cliffhanger story blends adventure with real-world lessons—highlighting teamwork, integrity, humility, paying it forward, and stewardship of America’s State and National Parks.
